LASER HAIR REMOVAL Q&A
SAFE FOR ALL SKIN TYPES
Our laser hair removal is for both men and women. For many, unwanted hair can be a nightmare. Getting rid of it can be painful. Until recently, the only choices we had for removing unwanted hair were smelly hair-removal creams, sharp razors, hot wax or painful electrolysis needles.
HOW DOES THE LASER WORK?
The laser penetrates a controlled beam of high-intensity light through the skin and targets pigment inside the hair follicles. This generates heat, which destroys the follicles without damaging delicate pores and skin. Our machine comes equipped with a cooling device that protects the upper layers of the skin with a cooling burst of cryogen. Because the beam diameter is large, it covers many hairs at one time, which reduceds the procedure time and allows us to treat even large areas such a backs, chest, legs in under an hour. Together, the long-pulse laser and cryogen cooling offer optimal treatments with minimal side effects. Each burst of laser light disables a large number of hair follicles at once making it most effective for smoother, hair-free skin.
WHAT IF I HAVE DARK SKIN?
Hair removal lasers work by targeting the melanin (pigment in hair). By adjusting the settings on our laser we can more selectively focus on the melanin in the hair rather than in the skin. Our machine can treat Asian, Hispanic and those of African origin.
DOES IT HURT?
Some clients may feel a slight discomfort with each laser pulse, sometimes described like the snapping of a rubber band on the skin. This discomfort resolves quickly and is minimized by the cooling spray.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
For hair removal, multiple treatments are required, as the process is most effective when the hair follicle is in its active growth phase. Treatments will vary depending on thickness of hair and any medical conditions. Shortly thereafter your first treatment, a visible reduction in hair follicles will be most apparent.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR TREATMENT?
Clients should avoid plucking, electrolysis, waxing and depilatories for six weeks prior to treatment. Your skin should be cleanses and dried, removing makeup, creams, oils, or self tanning products. Exposure to recent sunlight or tanning boothe for 14 days prior to treatment is not permitted.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
Laser Hair Removal does not cause the irritation that other hair removal methods may cause. Larger areas may be treated at one time then tweezing or electrolysis. They are effective on almost any area of the body where smoother, ounger, hair-free skin is desired.
HOW ARE THESE TREATMENTS DIFFERENT FROM ELECTROLYSIS?
Electrolysis is a much slower and more painful process. With electrolysis, a needle is inserted into each hair follicle, one at a time. Once inserted, an electric shock burns the follicles. Our laser uses a light to treat all the hairs within the beam area at one time. Most clients who have had both say that treatment with lasers in painful, faster and mroe convenient. It is important to comes into the treament already shaved. This will give an optimal result.
ARE THESE TREATMENTS COVERED BY INSURANCE?
Most insurance companies to not offer reimbursement for cosmetic procedures.
